● Organize and participated in Q2 Client visit to Washington DC to meet with key Congressional offices ● Outreach to NOAA on implementation of seafood EO and deregulatory agenda; provide specific recommendations to NOAA staff on closed area re-evaluations; attend and report to Client on NOAA Spring CCC meeting ● Provide Client with information/implications of S.4236 and gaining access to agriculture programs & advise on opportunities for 2026 Rural Business Development Grants; report on USDA seafood office creation ● Provide Client information related to final rule on Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Monument Executive Order & White House press event; continue to monitor the transfer of protected species management authority from NOAA to USFWS; inform Client on letter from Congress to NOAA on ropeless gear; advise on NOAAs new vessel speed rulemaking process; advise Client on status of H.R. 1897; review NOAA 2026 MMPA LOF for Client ● Continue to monitor federal agency activities, hearings and legislation (S.688 & S.1369) related to IUU fishing and forced labor in the seafood industry; advise Client on strategy regarding federal council legislation; North Pacific bycatch legislation; and status of pollock-fur seal litigation
