The IIA engaged the House Energy and Commerce Privacy Working Group to express the value of internal audit in any forthcoming data privacy legislation. In addition, The IIA responded to a request for information published by the Privacy Working Group providing a deeper analysis of how internal audit represents a core consumer protection.

The IIA engaged members of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and House Committee on Energy and Commerce to discuss the role of internal audit in any forthcoming artificial intelligence legislation. This includes conversations concerning potential modifications to definitions in the Validation and Evaluation for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence Act (S. 2615).

The IIA engaged members of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services and Committee on Agriculture in support of Sections 404 and 406 of the Digital Asset Asset Market Clarity Act (H.R. 3633). In addition, The IIA met with members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs to encourage the inclusion of investor protections - such as those specified in the Clarity Act - in the draft Responsible Financial Innovation Act. The IIA also submitted a letter to the House Committee on Financial Services regarding potential changes to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
