Heterodox Academy (HxA) sent the President a letter upon his inauguration urging him to support open inquiry in higher education by supporting legislation to end political litmus tests in the hiring and evaluation of faculty, support legislation on campus free speech, have the Department of Education enact fair Title IX regulations, and pursue enforcement of Title VI without infringing on free speech or academic freedom. HxA also spoke with the National Science Foundation to advise it on how to navigate requirements of Executive Orders instructing the organization to stop taking diversity into account in its grantmaking process with regulatory obligations to do so.
