BUD · Budget/Appropriations

Met with S.C. Congressional delegation staff to discuss FY26 Appropriations and its impact on the university's research priorities. Also discussed Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests with delegation staff.

EDU · Education

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss impacts of proposed higher ed policy changes (specifically federal financial aid) contained in the Big Beautiful Bill.

ENG · Energy/Nuclear

Met with S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss competitive proposals related to CU's strengths in electrical grid security and nuclear-related research specifically the capabilities that exist at our energy innovation center in North Charleston and on the main campus. Discussed two CDS requests related to energy in the FY26 E&W Appropriations bill.

AGR · Agriculture

Met with S.C Congressional delegation to discuss the university's strengths in agricultural research and partnerships that we have in rural S.C. Also discussed USDA's "Advancing Markets for Producers" program and its impact on Clemson and the state.

DEF · Defense

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss and show how the university is working directly with the Department of Defense on relevant research. Also discussed potential research partnerships with industry.

SPO · Sports/Athletics

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss the need for federal legislation related to a national standard for NIL and college athletics. Also discussed the recently the "SCORE Act" which resides in the House.

ANI · Animals

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss our new College of Veterinary Science which will take our first class in 2026. Discussed opportunities for research and partnerships with USDA and other federal agencies.

HCR · Health Issues

Discussed the university's strengths in health/medical related research with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation. Also, discussed the importance of indirect costs related to this research.

SCI · Science/Technology

Discussed NSF related university research proposal (NSF Engine) with staff from the S.C. Congressional delegation.

IMM · Immigration

Met with staff from the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss impacts of potential changes to immigration/visa policies at the federal level.
