Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards No. 222; School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection

On May 30, 2025, NHTSA published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) proposing to remove obsolete requirements from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 222, "School bus passenger seating and crash protection." The agency received no comment on the proposed changes to FMVSS No. 222, and therefore the agency is adopting the changes in this final rule.
